Replication of the Spiricom Results |
| In all scientific endeavors to determine the validity of a given data set, falsifiability (or "refutability") is employed. Falsifiability is the logical possibility that an assertion can be shown false by an observation or an experiment and serves to determine if the results are trustworthy. Since an approach of scientific jurisprudence is being taken (showing exhibits as links in a chain of evidence, then letting you, ‘the jury’, decide), it is only fitting to recall that falsifiability was one of the criteria used by Judge William Overton in the McLean v. Arkansas ruling to determine that 'creation science' was not scientific and should not be taught in Arkansas public schools. In Judge Overton's conclusion, related to this falsifiability criterion, he stated that "While anybody is free to approach a scientific inquiry in any fashion they choose, they cannot properly describe the methodology as scientific if they start with the conclusion and refuse to change it regardless of the evidence developed during the course of the investigation" (McLean v. Arkansas Board of Education Decision, January 5, 1982). This falsifiability standard ( i.e., null-hypothesis inquiry ) was also enshrined in United States law as part of the Daubert Standard set by the Supreme Court for whether scientific evidence is admissible in a jury trial. And if it’s good enough to send a man to prison for life, it’s good enough to judge the Spiricom evidence by. The Dr. Rivers audio is related to the January 1987 Fate Magazine “Spiricom or Spiricon?” article. The T.Loud replication is more contemporary, but used a technology designed to replicate the 70’s era device readily available at the time of the Spiricom recordings, called a ‘Talk-Box’ or ‘Frampton’ device. T.Loud is a producer solicited to make an attempt at ‘falsifying’ the Spiricom results using technology available to Bill O’Neil at the time of the recordings. T.Loud responded within a day, and aside from the superior fidelity of the recording, the results are nearly identical. Both Dr. Rivers and T. Loud independantly verified that the Spiricom tapes are falsifiable. .......................................................................................................
